During a panel at VivaTech called “Quantum 101: Harnessing Quantum Innovation for Business (and Social) Revolutions”, Horizon's CEO Dr Joe Fitzsimons highlighted three main takeaways of the quantum ecosystem as it stands today: the promise of quantum computing to be a computing revolution all over again, an expected increase in levels of investment in quantum computing over the next few years, especially on the hardware side to get to quantum advantage and how critical it is to have tight integration between hardware and software to get to useful quantum computing.

"In terms of how to make use of quantum computing to actually solve real-world problems, it's not just a question of building good quantum computers,” said Joe Fitzsimons. “We also need the algorithms to be able to tackle those problems. It turns out that coming up with quantum algorithms is extremely difficult. So we built tools to try to make that easier."
