Dr Joe Fitzsimons is the Founder and CEO of Horizon Quantum. Before establishing the company in 2018, he was a tenured associate professor at the Singapore University of Technology and Design and a National Research Foundation Fellow. He also served as a principal investigator at the Centre for Quantum Technologies, where his research contributed to both theoretical computer science and physics.

Earlier in his career, Joe was a fellow of Merton College, Oxford, and a senior research fellow in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford. During this time, he co-invented universal blind quantum computing, now recognised as a key technology for securing cloud-based quantum computation.

He holds a doctorate from the University of Oxford, where his research focused on quantum computing architectures, and a Bachelor of Science in theoretical physics from University College Dublin.
